Celebrating California Landscapes
I have a resume steeped in the spirit of California: Writer, Strawberry Driftwood Prospector. You can find me indulging in Big Sur beach walking, embracing the spiritual essence of the fabled California landscapes I celebrate in my book, California: Walking Through Change.
The Art of Pacific Madrone
The Strawberry Tree, the alternative name for Pacific Madrone, stands as the aesthetic cousin of the Coast Redwood. Arbutus menziesii, in its driftwood form, graces the shores with pewter burls and, when cut, reveals a pink hue and is gracefully figured, becoming sought-after table art akin to Coast Redwood.
Big Sur and California Coastal Poetry
Big Sur has brought my writing career full circle. I have contributed to the fabric of California coastal poetry, with works published in magazines such as Envoi in Argyll, Scotland, and later in Seventh Quarry in Swansea, Wales. Seventh Quarry's publisher, Peter Thabit Jones, now serves as poet-in-residence in Big Sur, echoing the literary legacy of John Steinbeck, Robinson Jeffers, and Jack Kerouac.
A Guide through the Golden State's Wilderness
California: Walking Through Change is more than a travel guide—it's an invitation to explore the depths of California's wilderness, presented as a California National Parks guide and more. This provocative work can be found on Amazon and on the 19th-century San Gregorio General Store bookshelf—an iconic Bay Area cultural haven frequented by luminaries such as Neil Young and the late Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
