Adventures with a Book
To celebrate the publication of my latest book, California: Walking Through Change, I've embarked on a unique journey. Whenever I travel to California, I share tales of my adventures as I discreetly place copies of my book in hotels and with the people I meet.
Starting in San Diego
These adventures with a book began at the Old Town Inn on Pacific Highway in San Diego. I left a copy of California: Walking Through Change in the charming lobby, hoping to surprise and delight future guests.
Journey to Anza-Borrego
I then traveled 84 miles to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, a desert haven adorned with native California Fan Palms. The park's tranquility and beauty provided the perfect backdrop for another chapter of my journey.
Experiencing Carrizo Plain
Arriving at Carrizo Plain National Monument, I witnessed what might be the most spectacular wildflower display on the planet. The vibrant hues and breathtaking expanses were truly a sight to behold.
A Peaceful Stay in Cambria
My next stop was the Sand Pebbles Inn in Cambria, where the sound of the surf was a constant companion. I tucked a copy of the book into a drawer, hoping it would be a surprise find for a guest attuned to the rhythm of the waves.
Conclusion of the Journey
Finally, I returned to LAX for my flight home, reflecting on the multitude of experiences and the landscapes that had woven themselves into the fabric of my adventure.
